The café feels like home. We are spoiled with the luxury of having coffee in front of us everyday as well as air conditioning. The people we work with are almost all nationals who don’t speak very much English, yet we still manage to communicate with each other. They are really fun to be around and, regardless of broken communication, have been so welcoming to us.
So far, we have been able to hold an English corner and a children’s story time at the café. It’s fun how many people here have a huge desire to learn English. We had about sixteen women show up to our English corner. They ranged from middle school girls, who were just learning English, to English teachers who were pretty fluent. I think they were all pretty amused with two college American girls and I think we spent about 15 minutes afterwards taking selfies on all of their phones.
